ernie bossmann recyling & repetition

My preferred material is second-hand. Cut-outs, thrift store finds, precise words on repurposed paper. Not keen to add more stuff to the world, I rather rearrange its current configuration. There’s no need making things up. We are surrounded by loads, almost drowning in images (still on paper as digital) and I feel free to re-use them. (I even recycle my own work.)

I play with flowing identities, at the same time familiar and unrecognizable. Distinctive features I let fade out, I depict common grounds and so-called anomalies. Always operating in the in-between. Instead of emphasizing particular type, I work with hybrid figures.

Newspapers, tiny libraries, thrifts-stores, my own attic and from friends. I collect and sort out, combine, isolate, I add or reduce. Working with clear and repetitive interferences, with patterns (almost like an abstract artist). Many become part of sequences. I use them again and again.
